YORK residents are being warned to be on their guard after a number of complaints about the tactics of security salespeople in the area.
Residents have told City of York Council's trading standards team that they have received phone calls from a firm claiming to be security advisers to the council and requesting an appointment to discuss home security.
The council does not work in conjunction with security firms.
