Handguns, shotguns and a sword were among some of the weapons handed over in Ryedale so far as part of a national amnesty.

Officers at Malton Police Station, the designated handing in centre, are urging more people to come forward with weapons and firearms they do not need.

Ammunition and replica firearms can also be handed in during the amnesty, which lasts until April 30.
