SO the story of Smoky and the bandit has a hoppy ending.
After being taken from its home in Acomb by a bunny burglar, Smoky has been found safe and well, and returned to its delighted owner, six-year-old Marie.
The theft brought out the best in the community, with neighbours rallying round to help. And we are delighted that the Evening Press played a positive part in this fluffy tale.
Now all we need is for the thief to be apprehended. Only when the culprit is caged will rabbits sleep easy again in their straw beds.
We hope York police put their top men onto it. May we suggest: Starsky and Hutch?
