A second-half try by bustling prop Lee Brundrett earned York Acorn 'A' a narrow 14-8 home win over York Groves in the semi-final of the York and District Cup.
The Blue and Golds will now meet New Earswick All Blacks in the final on a date yet to be organised.
Acorn had to twice draw level with tries from loose-forward Adam Endersby and centre Alex Cowton before Brundrett notched the winning score.
In a defence-dominated encounter, Acorn were well served by the versatile Ben Jones, who gave an accomplished display at hooker and then loose-forward and slotted over the match-securing conversion.
Others to take the eye for Acorn were their prop Gary Taylor, teenage scrum-half Kevin Brundrett and solid full-back John Tattersfield.
Groves played their part in a keenly fought contest with their inspirations being outstanding ball handling prop Andy Starkey and scrum-half John Thompson.
