A FIRST-HALF goal glut helped Thorpe United hit Heworth for six in the final of the York FA Acaster Steel Junior Cup for Under-12s.
Thorpe were 3-0 up after 11 minutes and 5-0 up at the break and for all Heworth's valiant efforts to come back in the second half, the game finished 6-1.
Nathan Parker got the ball rolling, Charles Morton finished off a fine move involving Parker and Stephen Dean, and then Dean lobbed the 'keeper to complete the early treble. A solo goal from Parker and man-of-the-match Morton's second rounded off the first-half scoring.
The second half was a different game as Heworth fought back, reducing the arrears when Lawrence Longworth netted from a corner after Ben Eve's shot had been saved wide.
The Thorpe defence was put under pressure but they broke out for Morton to force a fine save from Calvin Lawson and they made it 6-1 through Robert Bourke.
