TOM Osbourne saved two twice-taken penalties as Selby Olympia WMC Under-16s beat Copmanthorpe Under-17s in a shoot-out to decide the York FA Senior Minor Cup final.

Selby won 3-1 on spot-kicks after the game had finished 1-1 after normal and extra time.

Olympia had done the early attacking but the first clear chance fell to Copmanthorpe's Chris Bell, whose shot was snuffed out by the defence.

At the other end, Cop 'keeper Michael Dale denied Wayne Brook but both sides were otherwise restricted to long-range efforts.

In the second half, Cop's Tom Heseltine shot wide with Osbourne out of position, while the outstanding Brook fired a free-kick just passed the upright at the other end.

Copmanthorpe took the lead on the hour mark when a pinpoint Richard Hare pass was coolly sidefooted home by Bell, but Selby were level within a minute when James Barrett was quickest to react after Dale had parried a shot.

Both teams had chances to win it but good defence and poor finishing combined to take the game to the shoot-out.
