POCKLINGTON crowned a great season by adding the Leeper Hare York and District League Senior Cup to their league championship at York RI's New Lane ground last night.

Despite lacking several key players through injury, including the versatile Baz Gargett, Pocklington beat Malton Bacon Factory 4-1 to complete the double.

Pocklington were out of sorts in the first half and Factory deservedly took the lead when Nigel Allen netted a solo goal after 20 minutes.

Only the woodwork prevented Factory from increasing their lead ten minutes later, but the league champions showed much more urgency in the second half.

Rich Millett equalised as he took on the Factory defence and ten minutes later Neil Wilford put them in front when he drilled a low shot through a crowded penalty area.

Factory responded five minutes later when their two most effective players, Nigel Allen and Paddy Mancrief, combined with Mancrief lashing home a shot from 18 yards to bring the scores level.

With ten minutes remaining a low left wing cross eluded Factory's defence and Mark Abblett met the ball at the far post to restore Pocklington's lead and the same player was on hand five minutes later to snap up another goal when the Factory goalkeeper failed to gather cleanly.
