I FIND it deeply concerning that more than 20 teachers in York are facing redundancy (May 7).
How can a Government whose campaign slogan was "Education, education, education" possibly justify this? The fact that more than £3 billion has been spent on the Iraq war so far proves there is plenty of money in Government which could be put into education.
On top of this, City Of York Council is still to go ahead with three private finance initiative schools, which have been proven to be poor value for money for the taxpayer and more expensive in the long run, as we are paying large profits to the various companies involved.
