Newcomers Hemingbrough lead by two points after trouncing Yapham by nine wickets.

Dick Wright carried his bat in making 71no for Yapham who were able to reach 175-9 as Stuart Cox took 3-60.

Maqsood Akbar's class then showed as he rattled up 104 before being run out but this proved to be the only glimpse of joy for the hosts as Nathan Briggs made 60no in a total of 176-1.

Heworth relinquished top spot in DIVISION THREE when they lost the all-York clash with Heslington, who won by six wickets thanks to Andy Ezard (88) and Paul Neal (44). David Bowling had earlier made an unbeaten 70 and Joe Johnson 31 in Heworth's total of 167.

Pickering lifted themselves off the foot of the division when they earned a two-wicket victory at Woodhouse Grange. Ian Johnson took 4-47 and Andrew Grayson 3-77 as Grange made 150-7. Johnson then followed up with an unbeaten 52, while Andy Hill's 45 helped to negate Dudley Cooper's 4-41.

An unbeaten 51 by John Hetherton coupled with Andy James' 46 earned New Earswick their first victory of the season at the expense of Bubwith.

The vanquished ranks now find themselves at the bottom after being bowled out for 117 by Darren Winters (4-43) and Paul Stimpson (3-31).

Half centuries by Paul Atkinson (53) and John Bladen (58) helped Clifton Alliance reach 175-8 at Bolton Percy. Home bowler Pip Malloch took 4-31 then team-mates Ali Rigby (49) and Mike Furze (31) made runs but Bolton could only muster 139-8 in their reply.

Civil Service's attempt at matching Hovingham's 179-7 was even less successful when Jonty Rounthwaite's 3-6 reduced them to 83-8. Stuart Prest top scored for Hovingham with 61.
