The British Lung Foundation is offering adventurous members of the public the chance to parachute for free - if they raise enough sponsorship for the charity.
The solo or tandem jumps can take place at airfields across the country and training will be offered. To take part, telephone 0191 2630276 or email beverley.wears@talk21.com
The York Poetry Society is exploring International Poetry in Translation next month, when Gillian Ewing leads a discussion group on the subject.
The event takes place on Friday July 4, at Jacob's Well, Trinity Lane, off Micklegate, York, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
Entrance is £2, students £1, and refreshments will be available.
