POSTAL workers in York discovered someone had let down the tyres of 80 Royal Mail bicycles.

The bicycles were attacked at the Royal Mail headquarters on the Birch Park estate, Huntington, York. The valves from the 80 red Royal Mail bicycles were stolen.

Sgt Colin Ventress, of York police, said the incident happened between 1pm on Saturday and midnight yesterday.

A spokesperson for Royal Mail said all deliveries would be carried out.

She said: "We are carrying out an investigation, which will include a review.

Maintenance specialists repaired the cycles.
