HEWORTH beat Sheriff Hutton in division four of the Fulford Ladies' Invitation League to go four points clear of second-placed Wheldrake, who lost to Pocklington 52-56.

Christel Hetherton and Ruth Hill won their last rubber 8-4 to help Pocklington to two well-earned league points against Wheldrake.

Wigginton had that little bit of sharpness when they narrowly beat Tollerton 59-49 with Jill Quigley and Jean Thompson keeping a clean sheet, winning 7-5 7-5 and drawing 6-6.

York took their unbeaten run to nine games in division one by beating Tadcaster with Louise Lister and Wendy Stirke winning 29 games in a 79-29 victory.

Bubwith had their second win as Jill Rounce teamed up with Liz Bramley to win 10-2 11-1 7-5 in the 66-42 victory over Poppleton.

Fulford's Di Ekers and Anna Baker were in sparkling form, beating all three couples to collect 30 games in a 72-36 victory over Civil Service.

Appleton Roebuck's first string Emma Almgill and Judy Marriott led from the front with 10-2 10-2 and 8-4 wins as Rowntree Park were beaten 66-42 in division two.

Wheldrake went top, beating a changed Castlegarth team 77-31 with Helen Hadfield and Helen Roe collecting 32 games.

Cawood beat Cliffe 57-51 and go top of division three by one point from Dunnington. Cawood's Lesley Savage and Anne Talbot were the only couple with three straight wins.

Fulford beat Boston Spa in division five, Evelyn Atkinson and Linda Irving won 30 games including a 12-0 whitewash.

Dunnington were far too strong as struggling Bishopthorpe were crushed 90-18, Di Wrigglesworth and Ann Murray only dropped three games. The victory kept Dunnington level with leaders Poppleton but Dunnington have played a match more.

In division six Knaresborough enjoyed a 69-39 home win against Dunnington.
