JODY MORRIS, who has agreed to become Peter Reid's first signing for Leeds, could make his debut against York City at Bootham Crescent next Wednesday (7.45).

Former Chelsea midfielder Morris, who was today undergoing medicals, is not included in the squad for tomorrow's pre-season friendly at Bristol City.

However, there is a place for York-born central defender Matthew Kilgallon in a party containing a blend of youth and experience.

French trialists Joel Sammi, a central defender from Valence, and midfielder Sebastian Rostoe, from Cannes, are also in the 18-man squad and will receive a chance to impress in match action after training at Thorp Arch all week.

The club's other two trialists - Julian Gray from Crystal Palace and Brazilian Rodrigo - miss the trip. Leeds are still in negotiations with Gray and his representative, while Rodrigo has picked up a calf injury.

Morris, 24, is available on a Bosman free transfer and has agreed a two-year contract.

He trained with Cardiff and also had talks with Portsmouth but Leeds stepped in after losing out to Manchester United in the race for Brazilian midfielder Kleberson. Morris was released by Chelsea at the end of last season after joining them as a trainee seven years ago and making 173 appearances.

Goalkeeper Paul Robinson, whose move to Aston Villa fell through this summer, is in the squad for the Bristol friendly, along with young keeper Scott Carson.

Mark Viduka, hawked around Europe by his agent, also makes the trip and there is a place for David Batty, who missed all last season but has been promised a fresh start by Reid.

Leeds squad (v Bristol City): Robinson, Carson, Kelly, Duberry, Sammi, Kilgallon, Richardson, Barmby, Rostoe, McMaster, Batty, Keegan, Milner, Simon Johnson, Viduka, Smith, Wilcox, Singh.
