Dunnington'S dream of playing at Lord's this season is over.

The Hunters The Estate Agent York and District Cricket League side were beaten by Derbyshire side Sandiacre by nine runs yesterday's National Club Championship quarter-final.

Dunnington had gone further in the competition than ever before, picking up a couple of Yorkshire Premier League scalps on the way, but just fell short at Sandiacre, who will now meet West Indian Cavaliers (Nottingham) for a place in the final.

Sandiacre, batting first made a fune start and were 92-1 after 20 overs, but spinners Dave Greenlay, Steve Precious and Dave Kitching, slowed the run-rate and the home side were restricted to 210-8.

That score was expected to be well within the powerful Dunnington battling line-up's grasp, but they made a poor start and had only 50 on the board after 20 overs.

But Greenlay, who had bowled superbly for his 1-20 aff nine overs, hit a brilliant 95 as Dunnington clawed their way back in to the game, but the York and District League champions fell ten runs short of victory.
