A SCHEME has been launched to make Market Weighton friendlier and boost tourism to the town.
All businesses in Market Weighton that come into contact with visitors are undertaking the Yorkshire Tourist Board's Welcome Host course.
Andy Burton, chairman of the Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership (WARP), which brought the course to the town, said: "The course is about creating a culture of friendliness for all visitors to the town. This fits with our objectives of making Market Weighton the perfect place to visit by promoting the town's position at the heart of East Yorkshire, emphasising the strong community spirit and raising awareness of the historical and environmental attractions of the area."
The course is one of the first initiatives to be introduced as part of WARP's Visitor Strategy.
