MITRE 'A' team's John Smith shot a fantastic 180,100,140 for 14 darts in their York Unique-Phoenix League division one match with Sun Inn.

Smith added a 17-darter after Tony Cooper had levelled in 19 darts. Dave Gibbons clinched the win with 18 darts after an 87 pairs finish and Chris Thompson capped a fine display with two 16-darters against Phil Good, who replied with a neat 19 darts. Thompson-Cooper also recorded a superb 20-dart 701 leg.

Pete Leake, with 19 and 18 darts, put Cygnet 'A' 3-1 up, then Clifton's Graham Sanderson (19) and Martin Waddington (100 finish for 21) levelled. Jack White took the win with 21 darts.

Rose & Crown had Ged McMahon closing on 100, but Slipper's Barry Noble showed his class with 20 and 17, before John Ward sealed the win.

Shepherd's Mick Willsden hit 18 and 20-darters to square their match with Cygnet 'B'. Then a 20-darter from Chas Ramsden took Shepherd's to victory, while Bishopthorpe's Arthur Conyers (20) and 19 from Tony Raymond couldn't prevent Acomb from stealing the win through Mike Harris.

In division two, leaders Alice Hawthorn were given an early shock as Toni Smallwood shot a 117 bull finish to give Phoenix 'B' the team game. Replies of 20 from Chris Hall and 19 from Jon O'Mara steered Alice to the win.

Col Rowntree's 130 check ensured Phoenix 'A' took the win, but John Spence and Nick Davis did well for Lord Nelson. Mark Hartley (17) and Sean Robinson 21 darts, plus a maximum, also showed for Phoenix 'A'.

Blacksmith's quest for honours got back on track with a 5-2 win at Boot & Shoe, whose Stuart Jackson stood out. Keith Elliott secured the win and was well backed by Tony Brown.

Mike Clarvis hit a 180 for Mitre 'B' at Old Ebor, while Holgate had a 177 score from Al Potter and a 19-darter from Pete West in their 4-3 win at Sun.

Tina Platt closed on 118 (T20, 18 D20) in the decider with Vicky Arundale to snatch victory for CueBall 'C' in York John Smith's Ladies League division one at Slipper.

Roz Kerr included three 100's for 23 as Cygnet 'C' extinguished Phoenix's flames, flying to a magnificent 9-0 result.

Not to be outdone by their close rivals, Cueball 'B' had Bev Harton-Tracey Farmeary 123, 100 shooting out in 19, to gain a full house at Leeman.

Cygnet 'A' put in a solid team display against Clifton, whose Lynn Richford and Jan Wilberham spoilt their party.

Sandra Bruce combined with Karen Alton to take the decider for Independent at Flag, whose Chris Jackson partnered Kay Snowdon to level.

Division two front-runners Slip made home advantage count as they recorded a 7-2 win against a depleted Shepherd.

Clifton kept the pressure on the leaders as they overwhelmed visitors Cygnet by the same scoreline.

Betty Jameson, partnering Dot Trousdale, secured the match in Blacksmiths' favour at Severus, while Holgate cleaned up in the pairs to eclipse Sun 6-3.

Tracey Atkin and Carol Stone were Puss's only successes as they were creamed 7-2 at Tang Hall Club, who go top in division three.

Vault slip into second spot after Mount recovered from a 3-4 deficit, Colette Wilson-Dot Sellers setting up a deciding leg which Joan Knowles, combining with Mags Formstone, secured.

Leeman's Debbi Witts combined with Jackie Gray to put the match out of Shepherds' reach.
