CHARITY runner Teba Diatta sets off from York Minster to the sound of deafening thunder.

The 21-year-old, who lives in Acomb, York, braved the threatening conditions to start her run to Westminster Abbey, in London, as part of a drive to help schoolchildren in Senegal.

She is supporting UNICEF's efforts to raise £100,000 to provide equipment for schools in that country. Teba plans to run 13 miles a day for the three-week journey.
