YORK Under-13s cricketers have completed a double triumph this season.

They have won York and District Junior Cricket Association Under-13s League to add to their earlier triumph in the Knockout Cup.

Having won their section of the U13s league undefeated, York first team beat their 'A' team (second in their division of the league) in the play-offs for the final.

Playing Acomb in the final at Bolton Percy, York scored 110-2, with Luke Wilson (31) and George Featherstone (30) both retiring after got in to the thirties.

Matthew Allman and Joe Dale each bowled four tight overs for Acomb, concededing just ten and 12 runs respectively.

In reply, Acomb were well short at 49-8 with Tom Shaw taking 1-9 off four overs and Gareth Miles clinging on to s tunning catch.

The trophy was presented by Paul Wilkinson, chairman of the YDJCA.

In the KO Cup final earlier this summer at Woodhouse Grange, York beat Heworth.

Coached by Ernest Taylor, York U13s are the same side as played together successfully as Under-11s.

Four of the team, Wilson, Featherstone, captain Matthew Wilks, and Chris Horner, will be in action again soon in the Lord's Taverners competition bidding for a place in the national finals.

The Under-15s NatWest Bank Championship was won by Sheriff Hutton Bridge, who beat Heworth ny nine wickets.

Heworth put on 52 in ten overs before being pegged back by a couple of run outs - Dan Walton for 19 and Malik Saif for 47.

Heworth finished on 97-6 and Bridge responded slowly with 29 off the opening ten overs.

After being bowled by a no ball and surviving a hard chance behind the wicket, David Coverdale cut loose to make 66no as Bridge eased home with an over to spare.
