I UNDERSTAND David Parker's anger (Press, July 19) at the possibility that Nestle-Rowntree Athletic Club may lose its home through no fault of its own.

But he is mistaken to blame York City for this. York City FC is also facing the possibility that it may lose its home through no fault of its own.

York City Knights RLFC is facing the possibility that its home may be redeveloped in an inappropriate manner.

It is not the City board, nor the supporters that have displayed arrogance throughout this shameful affair.

The real arrogance is being displayed by Persimmon, a supposedly local building firm which thinks its already vast profits are so important that it is okay to kick York City out of its traditional home.

The idea for York City to be forcibly relocated to Huntington was first put forward by Persimmon's junior partner in this scandal, Douglas Craig, the chairman of Bootham Crescent Holdings plc.

The uncertainty facing the athletics, football, and rugby clubs has been generated not by their own actions, but by the corporate greed represented by the Persimmon-BCH deal.
