THIS superfluous compilation is subtitled "The Greatest Hits Of All" - as opposed, presumably, to the George Benson Anthology that Warner put out two years ago.

That one introduced the singer/ guitarist as the man who "broke down the walls between jazz, pop and R&B". This one reminds you that if you break down walls, what you get is rubble. As well as being just another cynical cash-in job that tries to squeeze more mileage from the smooth singer's career, this 20-hit package suggests that the mellifluous Benson is just too slick for his own good. It's difficult to know who would want to buy this cream-drenched compilation. True fans will already have all that's on offer, while the casual admirer may well have bought the earlier "best of". Whatever, it's all here, from Give Me The Night, through This Masquerade to You Are The Love Of My Life.
