IMPRESSIVE batting by Ian Lake, with 110, and Matthew Hoyle, with 66, gave Selby victory over Stamford Bridge in division five.

Bridge's Steven Fieldsend (77) and Andy Winfield (41no) provided the platform for 196-4. However, the opening partnership of 175 between Lake and Hoyle meant that the eventual outcome was never in doubt and Selby won with five overs to spare.

Pocklington drew alongside Tadcaster Magnet in second place with a comparatively easy victory over relegation favourites Rowntrees, who have yet to win a game this season

The factory side made 156 with Keith Burrows top scoring with 33. Kev King and Mal Harrison took four wickets each before Chris Forsdyke (74) and Gary Milner (62 no) made fairly straightforward work of an eight-wicket victory.

Tadcaster Magnets restricted visitors Hovingham II to just 122, despite 62 from Nigel Adams. Matthew Keel's 6-26 made him the star of the Magnet attack.

Magnets lost early wickets before Graham Collins (54no) steadied the ship to secure a five-wicket victory.

Huntington's Len Watson (46no) and Colin Benson (48no) shared in a big, unbroken second wicket partnership to give their side a nine-wicket victory over Carlton Towers, after Wallie Baynes (5-51) and Steve Beales (3-68), had reduced Towers to 125-9.

Christian Soulsby with 5-57 and John Routledge (3-46) spearheaded the New Earswick attack against Dringhouses whose John Yorke (55) and Lewis Graham (25) offered much resistance in a total of 143 all out. Mick Steels (59) was the only man to lose his wicket in Earswick's reply, in which Paul Stimpson hit 70 no.
