A fisherman found the body of a man hanging near a York bridge.
The 65-year-old man was found yesterday morning, hanging from a tree on playing fields next to the river by Clifton Bridge.
PC Roger Walker, of York Police, said: "We got the call at approximately 7.45am to a body which had been strung up in a tree and found by a fisherman.
"The body was that of a 65-year-old man. We are not releasing his identity until his family have been informed.
"It is believed to be a suicide.
"We believe it happened sometime overnight, but the exact time we do not know.
