STEPHEN Lewis's thoughtful article (August 6) on immigration refers to "successive waves of immigrants - Romans, Saxons, Danes, Normans" - but fails to point out that at the time the locals saw them as invaders - witness Boadicea, Hereward The Wake, King Arthur, King Harold (Battle Of Hastings) among others. Brigantes rule, OK!
