TICKETS have gone on sale for the end-of-year players' presentation night.

The bash will take place on Friday, October 17, at York Moat House Hotel and will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, coffee and mints, a turn by award-winning compere Darren Payne, raffles and a disco.

Tables are available for ten at the price of £450. To book a place or for further information, contact Sharon Guildford on 01904 767404.

Payne, for those who don't know, is the usual match-day presenter at Huntington Stadium and is the brother of Ian Payne, who played for York in the 1970s. He has been voted Yorkshire's number one compere for the past four years, so will no doubt go down well on the night.

By the way, he will be back on the mike at the next home game against Workington Town a week tomorrow, having been away on holiday last week, with a stand-in presenter being used for the game against Barrow.

ANYONE watching Sky Sports' rugby league magazine programme, Boots 'N' All, would have seen this week that the Knights v Barrow match was given the match of the round status.

It was more good press for the Knights, and it was pretty good to watch the Knights not only play in but win a televised match, if only in highlights.

FANS would have been interested to note the return of the white 'away' shirt last week in the Knights' home game against Barrow.

Basically, they used it because of the weather, with the idea being that the white would reflect the heat away from the players better than the blue of the Knights' other two kits. Who's to argue it didn't pay off?.
