IT will be same again when newly-promoted Derwent Table Tennis Club resume their British League campaign later this month.

They kick-off life in the premier division with matches against national champions London Progress and last year's runners-up Batts Team Peniel at Brentwood.

The two-day fixture, on August 30 and 31, will also see Derwent tackle Horsham Angels and Barnet.

Derwent are preparing themselves for a tough season amid the elite after their successful division one campaign last time out.

The club's second string also face a difficult season in Division Two North but will be looking to bag a top-half finish.

They commence their fixtures on September 13 and 14 at Grantham against Uxbridge, Stoke Potteries, Oakbank and Wirral.

Two promising youngsters, Stephen Robinson and James Parker, from Derwent's junior coaching section, have signed as reserves and will cover in the event of injury or unavailability.

Both players have shown improvement during the close season and it is only a matter of time before they make the grade at senior level.

Derwent are planning regular coaching days to help many of the area's talented youngsters like Robinson and Parker develop their game, in the hope some will be able to push for places in the British League teams.

Monthly six-hour sessions are planned at Riccall Regen Centre starting today, and then on September 6, October 11, November 8 and December 6.

The club is also organising two invitation tournaments on September 7 and December 7 for players of all standards, with around ten matches guaranteed.
