MIGHTY teenager Joe Helme reckons he made the right decision to join York City Knights - as he believes the club can go places.

The 19-year-old signed an 18-month contract when he joined from Wakefield Trinity's Academy just over a month ago, and he is hoping that by the time that deal is up for renewal the Knights will be pushing for a play-off place in National League One.

"It's a really good set-up here and the lads are great, as are the coaching staff," said Helme, who has been on the winning side in each of the three games he has played for the Knights.

"York have given me an opportunity to further my career and it's a big step up for me but I'm enjoying it. I signed for this season and next and hopefully this time next year we will be in this position again but in Division One."

Helme is set to retain his place in the pack for tomorrow's game at Swinton Lions where a win would fortify their play-off place.

He added: "We've got a really good chance of promotion (from Division Two) this year. If we can pull it together over these last four (regular season) games it would set us up nicely for the play-offs, and from what we've seen and what we've played, we can beat anyone in this division.

"We can't take it, just because we beat them by 40 points last time, that we've only got to turn up to win. We've got to go out and really attack them and put pressure on them."

Coach Paul Broadbent is likely to stick with the same 17 that beat Barrow last week, barring the departed Neil Law and Jonny Woodcock.

New signing James Brown is set to start at full-back, with Darren Callaghan moving to Law's centre spot and Dave Smith coming into the back row, while Leigh Deakin could be on the bench. New recruit George Mack's transfer is unlikely to go through in time.

Broadbent said: "We're looking alright. We've just got to get out there and play like we did last week.

"When we've got our heads on and look after possession, we're a force and can turn over the best teams in the competition. We struggle when we start playing away from the plan and play for ourselves rather than the team, so we've got to make sure we play right."

Swinton have new troubles, with Kris Smith (knee) joining the treatment list, which includes Kris Tassell and Rob Russell. Prop Simon Knox might have to carry on at loose-forward, with 18-year-old trialist Mike Saunders continuing at centre.

Knights (probable): Brown, Godfrey, Hallas, Callaghan, Kama, Cain, Brough, Hayes, Jackson, Helme, Ramsden, Smith, Krause. Subs from: Forsyth, Hughes, Molloy, Deakin, Mack, Spink, Liddell.
