After suffering the humiliation of a two-day Championship defeat by Worcestershire earlier this week, Yorkshire are determined to make amends when the sides meet up again at Scarborough on Sunday in the National League.

The two teams occupy the bottom two places in the First Division with Phoenix propping up everyone else and, unless they beat Royals, they look certain to be relegated, despite their thrilling seven-wicket triumph over Warwickshire Bears under the Headingley floodlights in their last match.

It was, however, only their third win of the season and they know they can afford few slips in their remaining six matches.

Indian left-hander Yuvraj Singh, axed because of poor form recently, returns to the squad and Richard Blakey is again preferred behind the stumps to Simon Guy, who has been keeping wicket regularly in the Championship.

Both Steve Kirby and Chris Silverwood bowled until they almost dropped in the Championship match with Worcestershire and they will be hoping the reliable Tim Bresnan will be able to shoulder some of the hard work.

He was unavailable for that game because of his involvement in the England Under 19s 'Test' against South Africa but Yorkshire will now have first call on his services for the rest of the season.

Ryan Sidebottom has still not fully recovered from his sprained ankle and, although Matthew Hoggard has had a couple of second-team games, he was not felt to have bowled sufficient overs to return tomorrow after being out since the end of May with a damaged knee.

The talk in Scarborough this week has all been about why Darren Gough is not playing, but Yorkshire insist that he still needs more rehab work on his knee.
