A YORK farmer got on his bike and raised £2,000 to help his local community.
Charles McNeil, 65, of Thorganby, spent four days cycling 250 miles from York to London to raise cash for a new village hall.
He said: "I'd planned the route very carefully for months beforehand and had been training to make sure that I was fit enough.
"Arriving in London on two wheels with the sun shining and sailing past all the traffic jams felt great.
"People have been extremely supportive and it was very motivating to know that so many people were backing me.
"Fundraising for the new hall has brought the whole village together and I thought it was important to lend my support to something the whole community will benefit from."
