Sheriff Hutton Bridge's hopes that their visit to Hull Zingari would produce enough points to clinch the division one title were washed away.

Their game became one of only two victims of the weather in the entire seven divisions when it was abandoned after the hosts had lost one wicket for two runs in the three overs played.

The resulting nine points received by the Bridge leaves them requiring 13 points from their final game to ensure they take the honours after York II reduced the gap to 18 points by winning at Pocklington.

York were able to restrict Pocklington to a first innings score of 158-7 thanks to Richard Carroll's 4-30.

Rod Hinch top-scored for the hosts with 43 with Andy Inns making one less and Neil Jackson 36. Skipper Andy Kay then made 74 before James Pringle took up the cause and, after seeing the scores level, won the game with a six to reach 44no as York won by six wickets.

Two sides fighting it out to avoid occupying the second relegation place were in opposition at Driffield where an advantage draw to the home side left visiting Crayke in a perilous position. They now trail their opponents by 19 points.

Sixteen-year-old Andrew Chapman did his side proud when he made 62 in Driffield's 204-9. Rod Beckett supported with 32 as Richard Wentworth (3-79) and Andrew Dawson (3-43) made inroads.

Dawson was then the only Crayke batsman to impress as he made 76, but Mark Woodcock's hat-trick in his 4-56 struck at the heart of the Crayke innings and restricted them to 194-8.

Goole Town further improved their impressive home record when they inflicted a seven-wicket defeat upon Duncombe Park.

Brian Leckenby made 50 and Mark Wilkie 24 for Park but a home win was on the cards after Neil Foster's 7-34 in 17 overs had the Helmsley side all out for 136.

Goole's early runs came from Steve Foster (25) and Jonathon Burton (24) but the decisive knock was an unbeaten 45 by Kevin Murphy.

Tadcaster bowler Paul Downey put one hand firmly on the final monthly bowling award of the season when he captured nine Ripon wickets for 58 runs to dismiss the Cityzens for 142. However, his efforts were to no avail as Paul Mason hit back with 7-33 to dismiss the Magnets for 106, which finally put paid to the Tadcaster side's diminishing promotion hopes.

Chris Warters (32) and Peter Squires (33) made match-winning knocks.

Whitkirk skipper Neil Edgecock made an undefeated 63 and Andy Pierson 33 to help the Leeds side reach 170-9 at Stamford Bridge, for whom Peter Aconley took 4-38.

Aussie Stuart Boyle replied with 32 but The Bridge were sent to their 14th defeat when Matthew Wright took 4-41 and Harlon Haye 3-45 to dismiss the home side for 153.
