THIS fourth album by Alaskan singer songwriter Jewel Kilcher, which blends her pop-folk style with dance and R&B, initially lacks the punch of a purer sound.

But 0304 is definitely a grower and undeniably catchy. Whoever your favourite diva, there's something to have you singing along as Jewel's pitch-perfect vocals move effortlessly from Shakira (Intuition) to Sheryl Crow (Sweet Temptation, Haunted), with a surprising detour at Portishead's Beth Gibbons (Leave The Lights On).

U & Me=Love, originally written for Holly Valance, is a perfect pop number, while Run 2 U uses the Beth Orton patented folk-dance formula to good effect, yet remains distinctively Jewel.

The only real weak spot is America, a bizarre attack on the Bush administration which is lost among the love-laden lyrics and sweet sounds. This well-crafted pop album bursts with potential singles and will have you singing along by the second listen.
