WITH reference to the Evening Press (Monday, September 15) I completely agree with Paul Broadbent's comments regarding some Knights fans leaving last Sunday's game early.

The players deserved a better reception than they received when you consider what they have been through injury-wise and the number of players who have carried on playing through their injuries this season.

The atmosphere at the Barrow game was not quite as it had been in the two previous home games. The Barrow players should have been hit with chants of 'York, York, York' when they walked out onto the pitch.

Everyone from chief executive Steve Ferres down has done a fantastic job in such a short time and I do not expect overnight success. It's not just about this season but the long-term future of professional rugby in York and the future is now in very good hands.

My partner and I have had a great day out at every game, home and especially away. A big factor has been the way Steve Ferres, Roger Dixon and all the players make us feel part of the club. Roger was spot on after Sunday's game when he talked about the Knights' family.

The crowds have been very good this season, but let's have even more support home and away next season. The club as a whole deserve even more support.

I would like to thank all involved in the Knights this season, as it has been the most enjoyable season so far in 24 years of watching rugby league in York.
