GOOD luck to children's favourite Alf Douglass, who hopes to lick the competition and be named ice cream man of the year.
He certainly goes the extra mile in his van for his customers, playing Happy Birthday and Here Comes The Bride over the speakers for special occasions.
Perhaps this musical diversity could prove a source of extra lolly for Alf during the long winter months. Add a few strobe lights to the van and, hey presto, you have a mobile disco. Imagine Eminem reproduced on ice cream chimes. Cool.
