Carry On Katie, so impressive when winning the Lowther Stakes at York in August, will bid to live up to her name in the feature race at Newmarket tomorrow.

Jeremy Noseda's hugely-talented filly, a runaway Ascot winner on her debut, lines up for the £170,000 Sky Bet Cheveley Park Stakes and is fancied to extend her unbeaten record - provided she does not prove to be her own worst enemy.

A hyperactive and headstrong individual, Carry On Katie almost bolted with Frankie Dettori going to the start on Knavesmire, and it took all of the jockey's skill and strength to conserve his mount's energy for the return journey.

Anyone thinking of backing Carry On Katie tomorrow might be well advised to see her and Dettori safely at the start before they put down their money. But she is a high-class performer judged on her two-length Lowther success from Badminton, who takes her on again tomorrow.

Much Faster, who makes the trip from France, prolific winner Ny-ramba, and recent Ayr scorer Ruby Rocket, Kevin Darley's mount, also figure in the 11-strong field.

But Carry On Katie, assuming she's on her best behaviour, is surely the one they have to beat as she bids to provide Noseda with his second victory in this Group One contest, following the 1998 success of Wannabe Grand.

Yorkshire trainer John Balding has good prospects of landing the Rous Stakes with Absent Friends.

Bawtry-based Balding has done particularly well this season with his sprinters and Absent Friends is no exception. The six-year-old remains in good heart, judged on his slender defeat at Beverley last week by Smart Predator when he was apprentice-ridden. Richard Hughes takes over the mount in this Listed event over five furlongs.

The Somerville Tattersall Stakes has attracted a high-class field, and a big run is expected from Brunel, the mount of Darryll Holland.

Trained by William Haggas, whose horses are in excellent form, Brunel came good at the third time of asking when cruising home by a facile nine lengths at Salisbury last time.

This is tougher, but the fact Haggas is considering running Brunel in the Group One Dewhurst Stakes in two weeks confirms the regard he has for this exciting colt.

The NGK Spark Plugs Nursery looks a wide-open affair, but Free Trip is at the right end of the handicap to play a starring role.

Most recently successful at Nottingham, where he beat Truly Wonderful by a head, John Gosden's charge had Rules For Jokers, a winner since at Haydock, a further half-length back in third.

He is going the right way and is napped to gain his third success in this six-furlong dash.

At Brighton, Truly Wonderful, runner-up to Free Trip last time, can advertise the value of that form by landing the opening Ladbrokes Nursery for Mick Channon and Dean Corby.
