THE Press reported my support for Labour government proposals to rent out empty privately-owned homes to families on the housing waiting list ("Empty homes: temporary management, lasting solutions," May 28).
On September 24, you reported a decision at the Liberal Democrat conference to support this policy.
There are at least 250 long-term empty houses in York and in May I asked the council whether it supported the Government's proposed change in the law.
I hope that the Liberals will now work with me on this locally as well as nationally in Parliament.
