IAN Robson bagged a brace as Carlton United pulled off a major shock by knocking Black Swan Pickering out of the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy.

Second division side Carlton, formerly Old Red House, beat top-flight team Swan 3-2.

Dan Varley scored the 70th-minute match-winner in the RJF Homes Becketts League competition.

Goals by Nick Woodhead and John McNeice - his first for Swan - had earlier cancelled out Carlton's 2-0 lead, inspired by Robson.

There were no upsets at second division Heslerton Reserves, who went down 5-0 to Kirkdale United.

Ian Prendergast (2), Andrew Collier, Christopher Simpson and Phillip Charlton all netted for the first division outfit.

Heslerton played the final half-hour with ten men after substitute Jezz Clifford was injured just five minutes after entering the fray.

Second division side Coxwold led Kirkbymoorside Reserves, of the first division, 2-0 after first-half goals by Tom Kay and Daniel Jaques.

But Andrew Ferguson (2), Nicky Hodgson and Andrew Piercy replied for the Moorsiders after the break to clinch victory.

In the Ryedale Hospital Cup, first division side Sinnington romped to a 7-2 first round victory against second division Gillamoor.

Paul Clapham, Paul Harland and Joseph Turnbull all netted twice, with Lee Mitchell also on the scoresheet. Gillamoor's marksmen were Dan Broadbent and Craig Ibbotson.

First division side Thornton-le-Dale edged a five-goal tie against second division Slingsby.

Uyi Ehima's double strike and a Mike Lealman goal earned Dale a 3-2 triumph, with Darren Dyer and Jonathan Nicholson hitting back for Slingsby.
