WITH this new album the Poozies return to their roots in the Celtic folk tradition.
It features the talents of fiddle player and singer Eilidh Shaw, a new recruit filling the place first occupied by Sally Barker and then by folk superstar Kate Rusby. Alongside Eilidh are founder members Karen Tweed (accordion) and harp players Patsy Seddon and Mary MacMaster.
The Scottish-based band's choice of material remains eclectic and their arrangements are beautiful. Shaw's delicate fiddle interweaves with Tweed's exquisite accordion to create a magical tapestry of harmony and counter-melody, decorated and underpinned by the harps of Seddon and MacMaster. The band's close vocal harmonies enhance songs drawn from the rich Scottish folk tradition, both Gaelic and English.
