THE York FA Intermediate Minor Cup tie between Barlby Raiders and Tadcaster Albion proved to be a lively encounter with Tadcaster sneaking home 2-1.

Tad got in front with Chas Wrigley netting from close range. In the second half Barlby equalised when Nick Brooks netted from a disputed penalty.

Both sides had further chances but it was left to Tadcaster captain Scott Nicholas to score the all-important winning goal with only 10 minutes remaining.

Heworth built up a 3-0 lead in their game against New Earswick with goals from Patrick Pacy, George Myers and Aaron Stoker. New Earswick fought back strongly with Joshua Patterson netting twice but Heworth held on for a place in the second round with a 3-2 victory.

Dunnington, with a goal from Russell Carr and a brilliant header by Joshua Tattersall, went 2-0 up against South Milford in a thrilling tie. But South Milford hit back to lead with goals by Jamie Isherhwood (2) and Ashley Hannam.

Dunnington equalised with a 20-yard volley from Scott Perkins with 20 minutes left and, with full time beckoning, Dunnington clinched a 4-3 win with a 30-yard shot by Stephen Playle.

The only game played in the York FA Acaster Steel Cup saw Pickering Town beat Haxby 'B' 6-3.

A 20-yard shot from Shaun Magson gave Pickering the lead in the first minute but Michael Brown equalised and it was only until late in the game before Pickering took control with goals by Dan Horsley, Dan Simpson, Grant Stephenson, Joe Price and a further goal from Magson. Brown scored again for Haxby whose Harry Booth also netted with a powerful header.

In the York FA Junior Minor Cup Bishopthorpe White Rose scored a creditable 1-0 triumph when defeating Wigginton Grasshoppers with Mark Sharpe's goal. Young referee David Hall had a good match.
