NO ONE would dare call Nick Stokes, of Viking Removals, "four eyes" - despite his unusual choice of glasses.

He was showing off some of the wares of Specsavers, the chain of opticians, which, along with Chameleon Business Interiors, of Howden, sponsored the Evening Press business-to-business exhibition at York Racecourse.

More than 650 business people from all over York and North and East Yorkshire took part in the one-day event, which offered advice on legal matters, corporate health care, marketing and entertainment.

A demonstration of Skycell's remote-controlled photo-taking helium balloons also took place, alongside the chance to drive a Ferrari for a day.

Evening Press events organiser Wendy Neale said she was "buzzing with excitement" after the success of the exhibition, which was attended by more than 600 people.

She said the support shown by the York business community meant the event would be repeated next year.

She said: "We have had an absolutely fantastic response.

"We have had stands and products that would appeal to anyone who is in business in York.

"All the exhibitors have been doing business, whether they were displaying catering products, corporate activities, health care or financial advice."

The event was staged in association with York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
