York FA Sunday Junior Cup holders Yorkshire Herald crashed out at the first hurdle of this year's competition.

They were beaten 2-1 by Selby Olympia WMC Reserves with all the goals coming in the second half.

Olympia went ahead when Chris Pearson turned smartly before cracking the ball into the net from six yards.

Craig Anderson added the second from the penalty spot and, although Will Nebiani scored a late goal for Herald, Olympia held out to win.

Bishopthorpe had an easy 3-0 triumph over Kings Arms with goals from Graham Wigley (2) and Ben Sykes.

Chris Elliott's goal in the dying seconds gave Burton Stone a 2-1 win over Vale of York. Burton Stone's other goal came from a Henry Smith header.

Edinburgh Arms, from division six of the York John Smith's Sunday Morning League, put up a great performance against division three side Black Bull - but it was all in vain after a penalty shoot-out.

John Thompson netted with a shot on the rebound after 20 minutes to put Black Bull in front but Edinburgh Arms equalised on 70 minutes with a cracking 40-yard shot from Dean Farrar.

The game went into extra-time but the deadlock could not be broken until the shoot-out in which Black Bull kept their nerve at the vital point to squeeze through as 5-4 victors.

Midway through the second half Fulford led Volunteer Arms Reserves 3-1 with goals from Dave Chapman, Matthew Simpson and Oliver Barrett, Mark Henderson having scored for Volunteer.

Arms then moved up a gear with Mike O' Shaunessey scoring twice and, with four minutes of the game remaining, Lee Bond netted the winning goal with a volley from inside the penalty area to give Volunteers a 4-3 win.
