A lucky bounce in the dying minutes gave Keighley under-16s a 16-14 win at York Acorn ARL U16s.

In a fine game, Acorn started poorly to go 10-0 down but rallied to run in three tries from Lee Acaster, Adam Sellers and Chris Corr, with Timmy Elliot adding a goal, only for the late score to give the visitors the spoils.

Acorn's good display, built on fine defending, saw man of the match Jack Swainsbury, Tony Shepherd, Karl Harton and Billy Gillan impress.

York Acorn U15s started badly but picked up to beat Redhill 36-0.

First-half tries came from Lee Botterill, Dean Wardell and man of the match Matty Gray and the team stepped it up after a half-time team talk and scored more through War-dell, Gray, Mark Gover, Steve Harper and Wes Potter, with Lee Boterill and Joe Budd adding a goal each.

The new Selby Warriors U9s gave York Acorn U9s a good game before losing 38-26. Sean Kellet and Oliver Hardwick tackled well for Acorn and Jack Anderson scored four tries, with Tim Stubbs (2), Ryan Warters and Karl Wigmore also crossing and top man Sean Kellett adding a goal.

Heworth U9s were too strong for a depleted New Earswick U9s to run out 16-7 winners.

New boy David Dodsworth was top tackler for All Blacks, while hat-trick man Jordan Bracewell was man of the match. Other scorers were Sam Gell (2) and Scott Fernandez.
