I WRITE in response to the letter headlined Caring carers, (November 29).
I also have a mother in the care of Laurens Manor Nursing Home and I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments.
For three years my mother has received exceptional care with a great understanding and warmth from the wonderful staff.
The situation is now a desperate one, made no easier when only 28 days' notice was given to residents and their families. Why couldn't the home have been more open with everyone and given at least three months' notice? This would have been more compassionate.
Our hardest task now is to find a new home with a bed to spare for my mum.
This has proved very difficult, because all the appropriate nursing homes in and around York seem to be full. This is hard to take when Laurens Manor has been short of four beds for quite some time.
Have we all been duped?
Sandy Nicholson,
Gorse Hill,
Dunnington, York.
