FORMER York City defender Chris Hogg could be on the verge of joining Third Division rivals Boston United on a permanent basis.
Ex-England Schools captain has been told he can leave Ipswich Town on a free transfer and that makes the Pilgrims favourites to sign him.
Hogg, who left City for Ipswich, failed to make the first team at Portman Road and was loaned out to Boston earlier this season.
He featured in eight games for Boston, including the 1-1 draw at Bootham Crescent.
Boston general manager John Blackwell said: "He did very well in his time here and I don't believe he wanted to go back to Ipswich.
"There is a possibility that something could be done - maybe before the weekend."
