A YORK communications company has scooped a record seven trophies at this year's Communicators in Business Northern region awards.

Trident Communications, based on the Clifton Business Estate, which produces print and online media, scooped the accolades at the prestigious annual event, including the top prize for the evening - the Northern Communication of the Year trophy. The awards were handed out during a mediaeval banquet staged at St William's College, part of York Minster's conference and banqueting centre.

The annual Communicators in Business awards were launched in 1991 to encourage standards of excellence in the publishing of corporate communications.

Entries are judged by professionals with final selection carried out by Sheryl Moore, business editor of the Manchester Evening News.

Andy Douse, Trident's regional manager, said: "This is a fantastic result and it's testament to the efforts of everyone in the York office and to our partnership with clients. The team here have consistently managed to provide high-quality publications and media despite going through one of the busiest periods in our history."

Trident in York is part of the Trident Communications group, which has offices in London, Coventry, New York and Dubai.
