YORK'S Denny Cup campaign came to an abrupt end after an excellent Sunderland side walloped them 99-57.
Iain Boyle, Frank Turner, Ted Boyle and Phil Parsons started well on their home patch, winning the first three ends to lead 5-0. But they dropped 11 shots over the next three and were eventually beaten 25-16.
David Stroughair, Mick Parker, John Emmerson and Philip Scott could only win six ends, as they were well beaten 31-11.
Paul Mooring, Graham Brooke, Phil Emmerson and Graham Instone were always on the back foot up at Sunderland. They trailed 25-6 after 17 ends they won the last four but went down 25-13.
Michael Bruce, Mal Harrison, Eddie Howcroft and John Walker were the only rink to put up a real fight but they too went down after dropping a single on the last end 18-17.
York's interest in the FIBA Over 60s Double Rink Championship also ended when they went down 38-30 to Darlington.
Charlie Bateman, Graham Brooke, Barry Walker and Peter Littlewood appeared to be in control of their home game when the score stood at 15-12 with six ends to play but they could only win one more and went down 21-17.
Frank Turner, Fred Clayden, Eddie Howcroft and Dudley Williams did well to come back from 11-5 down at Darington after 11 ends to only lose 17-13.
New Earswick let a 79-68 lead after 18 ends slip as they drew 82-82 with Featherstone in the Yorkshire Ladies League.
Gill Clark, Diane Hardy, June Barker and Mavis Clare scored a six on the eighth end to lead 22-0, eventually winning 28-12.
Margaret Moss, Kath Sykes, Joan Lister and Margaret Pearson came from 18-9 down after 12 ends to lead 23-18 six ends later, hanging on to win 23-21.
Brenda Keller, Lys Jerrum, Barbara Brigham and Kath Hardcastle made a determined effort at Featherstone and won four of the last five ends scoring six shots to three against, but it wasn't enough as they lost 23-19.
Maureen Wood, Maureen Cooper, Maureen Wilson and Margaret Blows fell to a 25-12 defeat after being just 10-8 behind at one stage.
New Earswick suffered a heavy 45-12 defeat against Yorkshire Under 18's League Division One leaders Hornsea.
Mike, Nick and Johnny Ollis were level at 6-6 after nine ends but lost the remaining five and the game 18-6.
Steve Long, Lewis Ashton and Josh Hough were tied at 6-6 after eight ends and lost their remaining six to go down 27-6.
