The career story of England and Leeds legend Paul Madeley is told in a new book released this week - 'Leeds United's Rolls-Royce' - with Madeley's share of the proceeds going to the National Heart Research Fund.

Charting his career over more than 700 games at Leeds United, the book reveals dressing room dressing downs from Revie to Clarke and on-the-pitch heroics from United's golden era.

"I had a fantastic two decades playing at Elland Road and wanted to share my memories with the fans," said Madeley, who earned the nickname "Rolls-Royce" from the players and Yorkshire faithful for his classy, stylish play.

"What's more, the book gives me the chance to raise some money for a great cause."

Following a mild heart attack last year, Madeley, who lives in Bramhope, near Leeds, with his family, pledged to give his royalties from the book to the National Heart Research Fund, a decision welcomed by the fund's Chief Executive Ros Jenkins.

"We are dedicated to raising vital funds for research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease," explained Ros.

"The charity currently funds over £1.5m of medical research projects throughout Yorkshire and the UK, as well as providing lifestyle development grants in 23 centres of excellence.

"These lifestyle grants of up to £10,000 are awarded to help groups trying to change their lifestyle, to encourage people to lead healthier, more active lives.

"The money raised from Paul's book will be used to help raise awareness and reduce the risks of developing heart disease."
