IN response to your article 'You can't raise Yorkshire flag' (December 10), North Yorkshire farmer Andrew Wainwright, who has been told it is illegal to fly a flag from his land is only "guilty" of flying the Yorkshire Rose up-side-down.
Is this a form of distress signal?
Only the West Riding uses the rose inverted, both North and East Ridings use the rose correctly.
Check their coats-of-arms if you don't believe me. Have a look at North Yorkshire Police vehicles for instance.
I am also surprised that even the Evening Press uses the wrong rose for its Yorkshire In Brief column.
Let's get it right - if Leeds United FC can do it so can your newspaper.
I also urge Mr Wainwright to fly the proper flag of his North Yorkshire birthright.
More power to his elbow.

Brookland Road,
Bridlington.
