Heworth 'A' made it seven wins in a row with a 5-2 win over Bootham 'B' in the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League.

Brian Shipley, Clive Whyte and Neil Wood (39 break) won for Heworth before John Wortley carried Bootham a point.

Jason Milner and Dave Taylor wrapped up the match for Heworth, but Tim Fillingham defeated Kevin Gall on a re-spotted black for Bootham's second point.

Heworth 'B' did their 'A' team a big favour by thrashing Bootham 'A' 6-1, which gave Heworth 'A' a five point advantage as league leaders.

Colin Robinson took the last three colours to win the first frame for Bootham and then wins by David Birch, Chris Thompson, Huw Faircliffe, Alf Appleby, Mike Braithwaite and John Sherlock (who hung on to steal the frame from John Darley - 32 break) gained the victory.

Acomb 'A' recorded their fifth win, also 6-1 against Fulford 'B'.

Paul Clark, Peter Lawson, Marcus O'Boyle, Gerald MacKenzie, Gary Robinson and Trevor Ventress won for Acomb and John Adcock replied for Fulford.

Acomb continue in third spot, a further three points adrift.

Fulford 'A' gained only their second win of the season with a 5-2 victory over bottom-placed Acomb 'B'.

Fulford's winners were John Anderson (21 break), Simon England, Wayne Puleston, Richard Stroughair and Phil Oliver. John Ashwell and Phil Carlton gained Acomb's points.

With the defeat of Brian Coulson (Bootham) this week, Chris Thompson (Heworth) is now the only player with 100 per cent record, with seven wins in seven games, and he takes the lead in the Willsden Steel Player of the Year competition.

Only two other players are unbeaten. They are Brian Shipley (Heworth) with six wins, and Steve Burdett (Heworth) with five wins.

Neil Wood (Heworth) made a 39 break this week but Richard Stroughair (Fulford) with his 67 break continues to lead in the North Wolds Highest Break Competition.

Acomb defeated Heworth 4-3 to finish the first half undefeated in York Conservative Clubs' Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League.

The teams shared the frames with each securing two black ball successes, but D Chapman and P Tinker won the decisive sixth frame by three points to gain the aggregate by the same three points. Acomb lead the league with a four point advantage.

Second-placed Bootham maintained their challenge with a 5-2 win over Fulford who continue in bottom spot.

The teams shared the first two frames then Bootham won the next three and opened up a commanding 77 point lead in the aggregate scores.

D Stockton and E Kendra won the last game for Fulford by 66-36, so Bootham took the aggregate point for a 5-2 win.
