LEV Yalcin made a goalscoring comeback in yesterday's 4-2 reserve victory over Darlington.

The City striker netted confidently with the outside of his boot just five minutes after coming on as a second half substitute as he begins his return to competitive action after a lengthy injury lay-off.

Former Bradford City trainee Craig Fishlock, scored City's fourth goal after earlier efforts from Christian Fox and Gary Browne.

Fishlock, 20, was playing as a trialist.

First team manager Chris Brass said: "He did all right. He's been at a few clubs and he's unfortunately found himself in the middle of this bad financial situation and not been able to get a contract because money is so tight.

"He had a pre-season at Darlington and he's trained at Walsall, Carlisle and Cambridge but with the financial constraints on everybody it's been difficult for him. We're hoping to get a good look at him so we can work out whether he's going to be better than we have already."

Centre-back Stuart Wise only managed 45 minutes before being replaced at half-time but midfielder Mitch Ward completed more than an hour during his first match since last month's FA Cup clash with his former club Barnsley.

Wise has been suffering from suspected tonsilitis and was taken off feeling dizzy. He was due to see the doctor today to check whether he could pose a risk to the rest of the squad.

Also missing was Liam George, who is reportedly suffering from a mystery lower leg injury thought to be a calf strain or bruised shin. Brass said he was resting him as a precaution ahead of the busy Christmas period.
