DETECTIVES investigating the brutal murder of two York men have shifted their search to Leeds after the discovery of a car belonging to a man who police believe may hold vital evidence.

A red Ford Escort car owned by Paul Marshall, 42, is being examined by forensic experts after it was discovered abandoned in the Meanwood area of Leeds.

He is the tenant of a flat in Gillygate, York, where the partially-decomposed bodies of Daniel Wall, 27, and Kevin Mulgrew, 38, were found two weeks ago today.

Police launched a double murder inquiry after it was found that both men died from severe head injuries inflicted by a blunt weapon. Their bodies may have lain undiscovered for up to a week.

Det Supt Javad Ali said it was "imperative" that Mr Marshall was found "as a matter of urgency".

He said: "Many of our inquiries are now concentrated in and around Leeds."

Anyone with information should phone 01904 669430 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
