Wigginton racing cyclist Phil Brighton will next year race for the powerful South Yorkshire-based Dinnington Racing Club, which has boasted such past national stars as John Tanner, Chris Walker and Wayne Randle.

Brighton, who raced for the team in 1990-1992, was approached with a view to strengthening the current team which includes Kevin Brennan, Mark Wordsworth and Ian Furness.

His main goal for next season will be the British Cycling circuit series, national circuit championships and the European Masters Championships where he finished 11th this year.

Said Brighton: "I am very much looking forward to being part of a strong team and hope I can get a few wins in flatter events where I have been given assurances that I will be helped for the sprints."

Brighton is starting to step up his training ready for the start of the season and his first target will be to retain his overall win in the Clayton Velo circuit series at Lancaster in March.
